RESOLUTION 2009-22
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF FORT WALTON
BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING RESOLUTION
2007-11 TO REDUCE THE NUMBER OF YOUTH
COMMITTEE MEMBERS FROM 11 TO SEVEN,
AND CANCEL THE REGULAR AUGUST
MEETING; AND SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
WALTON BEACH, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
On June 12, 2007, the City Council of the City of Fort Walton Beach passed
Resolution 2007-11, establishing the Fort Walton Beach Youth Committee, a committee
designed to provide Council with input on issues important to the area’s youth. On
August 28, 2007, City Council passed Resolution 2007-22, which amended Resolution
2007-11 by allowing residents of the City and/or students of Fort Walton Beach High
School and Choctawhatchee High School to apply for appointment to the Youth
Committee. The Youth Committee has experienced difficulty seating a quorum in recent
months and has been unable to conduct committee business. In addition, the Okaloosa
County School District modified its 2009-2010 school year calendar with a new start date
after the regularly scheduled August Committee meetings. This could make it very
difficult to achieve a quorum for August meetings.
Therefore, the City Council hereby amends Resolution 2007-11 to reduce the
membership on the Fort Walton Beach Youth Committee from 11 members to seven as
outlined in Section 3 of Resolution 2007-11; and also amends Resolution 2007-11 to add
the month of August as a month the committee does not meet as outlined in Section 5 of
Resolution 2007-11. All other provisions of Resolution 2007-11, not amended by this
resolution, or Resolution 2007-22, shall remain in effect.
This resolution shall be effective upon vote of Council.
