STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request approval and authorize the Chairman to sign contract with
Floridian Construction and Development Company, Inc. for the replacement of the exterior,
siding, soffit and painting of the Tourist Development Visitors Center.
BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS: On April 7, 2015 the Board approved the award of a contract
to Floridian Construction and Development Company, Inc. for a bid price of $55,750 for the
replacement of the exterior, siding, soffit and painting of the Tourist Development Visitors
Center. The contract has been prepared and is ready for the Chairman to sign.
This contract includes removal, replacement and painting of the exterior siding of the Okaloosa
Island Visitors Center. The project will consist of removing existing siding and replacing it with
Hardie plank siding. It will also include replacing any damaged trim around windows, doors and
corners. A mandatory pre-bid meeting was held and the contractor reviewed the project. Some
areas may have hidden damage that was not apparent during the inspection that will need to be
addressed during construction. Any additional work to repair additional damage can be
approved by a change order.
OPTIONS: Approve/Deny the contract with Floridian Construction for the removal,
replacement and painting of the exterior siding of the Okaloosa Island Visitors Center for
$55,750.00 and authorize the Chairman to sign the contract.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of the contract with Floridian
Construction for removal, replacement and painting of the exterior siding of the Okaloosa Island
Visitors Center and authorize the Chairman to sign the contract.
