"h ont : United States Lifesaving Association: Emerald Coast April 18, 2013 Don Amunds Chairman Okaloosa County Board of County Commissioners 1804 Lewis Turner Blvd Fort Walton Beach, Fl 3247 Dear Chairman Amunds: Thank you for your consideration in allowing the United States Lifesaving Association and Okaloosa Beach Safety to hold the 2013 Sunset Family Fun Run for Junior Lifeguards at Newman C. Brackin Park on Okaloosa Island in May. The Boardwalk on Okaloosa Island is an excellent location to hold the event because of its facilities, large beachfront, and proximity to accommodations. As you may already know, The USLA Emerald Coast in cooperation with Okaloosa Beach Safety will be responsible for most of the operations leading up to and during the event. Per the fee schedule in the permit request, Okaloosa County requires a $100 fee to hold the event at the Boardwalk. I am requesting that the fee be waived in order to direct any proceeds from the event to the Okaloosa and Emerald Coast Junior Lifeguard Programs. I understand that insurance requirements and other implicit costs cannot be avoided, but our goal is to minimize costs where possible in order to maximize the benefit to the local programs.
