STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Staff has obtained a Quit-Claim deed from L-3 Communications for
needed right-of-way in connection with the paving of Fairchild Road.
BACKGROUND: Fairchild Road is a county maintained road which provides access to L3
Communications Integrated Systems, L.P., an aerospace company which employs many
residents of Okaloosa County and the surrounding area.
Fairchild Road exists as a paved road from US 90 East to the entrance gate of L-3
Communications. The remainder of Fairchild Road is an unimproved dirt road connecting to
Airport Road on the north end. The paving of the dirt portion of Fairchild Road will provide
direct access from Airport Road to US 90 via a paved roadway; this includes access to parcels
owned by L-3 Communications.
Funding to complete the dirt-to-pave conversion is in place and plans are complete. With
acceptance of this right-of-way deed staff will immediately move forward with the bid
advertisement process.
OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove the acceptance and recording of the deeded right-of-way from
L-3 Communications for the paving of Fairchild Road.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Approve the acceptance and recording of the deeded right-of-way
from L-3 Communications for the paving of Fairchild Road.
