SUBJECT: Re-appoint Jeff Linn and Joel Richardson to the Electrical Competency
Board

STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Section 6-221 of the Code of Ordinances (excerpted below) provides
for the appointment of representatives to the electrical competency board which assists the County with
implementing the provisions of the Florida Electrical Code and other related regulations, as well as
considers applications for trade licenses and possible disciplinary actions. Jeff Linn, State Certified
Electrical Contractor and Joel Richardson, State Certified Electrical have agreed to serve another three (3)
year term on the Electrical Competency Board.
DIVISION 2. OKALOOSA COUNTY ELECTRICAL COMPETENCY BOARD
Sec. 6-221. Composition; appointment of members.
The board of county commissioners shall appoint ten members to the electrical competency board and fix
their terms of office. The board shall consist of ten members, five of whom shall be licensed electrical
contractors, one of whom shall be an alarm contractor, one of whom shall be a specialty contractor, and
three who are consumer representatives.
The county building official shall be an ex officio member of each of these boards, but he or she
shall have no vote.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Staff recommends that the Board of County Commissioners approve the
re-appointment of Jeff Linn and Joel Richardson to the Electrical Competency Board.
