CGI COMMUNITY VIDEO PROJECT Presentation by Public Information Officer on CGI Community Video Project. Cam Johnson, PIO, mentioned the City entered into an agreement with CGI Communications to develop ten one -minute videos to be linked to ;the City' s website He said the videos will be done free to the City and CGI will offset the cost by getting local sponsorship. He mentioned the ten videos the City will produce include a Welcome; 'Education, Quality of Life, Real Estate and Relocation, Tourism and Things to Do, Parks and Recreatzori Downtown, Dining and Shopping, Economic Development andCommunity. He said the first four are standard with every community and the final six are ones ' the City; ehooses. He said CGI will shoot all the videos and write the scripts and then the City' s IT Division will add a link to the City' s website directing visitors to the videos. He then showed a video from one local community who has already participated in the program to give an idea on how. the web links will work and the sponsorship levels available to the businesses. He mentioned as part, of the agreement with CGI the City will provide a letter from Mayor Anderson to loeal business 'O` ners outlining the project and its legitimacy. Discussion ensued with objections expressed on endorsing businesses that may not be located in the City limits Discussion included the belief that the City could make its own videos; that there are local companies „that can do the, same thing; that the City web site should be an unbiased non -profit government web site; that the videos should be what the City has to offer; that the concept is good but the proper placement is the Chamber of Commerce; and that it is a good idea without the commercialism. Mr. Garvie moved to move forward with a " Quality of Life” video for the City and attempt to terminate the contract with CGI. Mr. Minch seconded motion and it carried unanimously with Holmes, Reeves, Garvie, Pullen, Hartwell, and Minich in favor (Miller absent). GENERAL PUBLIC Jim Tucker, 590 L' Ombre Court, acting on behalf of the Municipal Planning Board, received an update that the City is working with the County on the consolidation of City' s and the County' s 13th wastewater treatment needs and that City Council will receive a formal presentation on January Web Minutes 157- Page 1 of 1 Robert Mearns From: Cam Johnson Sent: Wednesday, January 20, 2010 4:02 PM To: Robert Mearns Subject: CGI -AC Engineers 01 6 I talked to Christine Stewart at AC Engineers about CGI' s response. Basil and I have been playing phone tag. I' m waiting on him to return my most recent call. AC Engineers Christine told me the following: In January 2009, after the agreement was cancelled, CGI sent a photographer to her business and shot video for her spot. The spot was produced and sent to her after a few weeks. She made three payments to CGI, one when she signed the agreement in late 2008, one in January 2009 and the final one in June 2009. Prior to sending her final payment, she asked why the link was not yet on our website. She was told by CGI that the City was not responding to their requests but the project was still on. She recently started asking for her money to be returned but CGI never returned her call. They finally responded to an email she sent telling her to `ask the city'. She claims she will hire an attorney and take CGI to court in order to get her money back. As already mentioned, CGI told her the project was still a go in June of 2009, but I didn't have any contact with anyone at CGI, they never sent their sales people back to the area, nor the photographer, after December 2008. So they knew the project was off, but they were still doing ads for local businesses. She and her husband plan on being at the meeting on the 26tH Cam Johnson Public Information Officer Administrative Services Department City of Fort Walton Beach, FL Office: (850) 833- 9505 Cell:( 850) 803 -3300 Fax:( 850) 833 -9640 cjohnson @fwb.org. 1/ 21/ 2010 - 158- JAN - 20 -2010 05: 18P FROM: AC ENGINEERS 850 243 3360 TO: 8339640 P. 2/ 2 e -Local ' nk Contract Page 1 of 1 b" Rater a Friend.. _ 130 East Main Eighth Floor, Granite Building Rochester, NY 14604 elm OcalLink ta° I; 800. 398. 3029 Dora: • gelc 02, 2008 Serving munides Nctlorrwide Since 1988 Rep.
