SUBJECT: Ordinance 1819 —Abolish Beautification Committee
1. Background
1. 1 At the Council Meeting on January 12, 2010, Council was asked to take action on
the Beautification Committee /Tree Board, as the lack of attendance at meetings
was making this Board useless.
2. Discussion
2. 1. Council approved the recommendation to abolish the Beautification Committee
and assign the duties of the Tree Board to the Municipal Planning Board.
2. 2 Council Members present voted in favor of the action.
2. 3 The City Attorney has drafted the attached Ordinance to formalize the action as
described above.
3. Recommendation
3. 1. Staff respectfully requests Council' s approval of Ordinance 1819, on first reading,
to abolish the Beautification Committee and assign the duties required for the
Tree Board to the Municipal Planning Board.

The authority fc)r enactment of this ordinance is pursuant to the powers for the City of
19 Fort Walton Beach, provided in section 2 of the City Charter, and section 166. 021 ( 1), Florida
