BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: November 3, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Roland Sims Jr. SUBJECT: Visitor - Allison Mikel – Court Operations Manager DEPARTMENT: County Administrator BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request approval of a newly created position for the Okaloosa County Teen Court program effective January 1, 2016, which will be funded solely by the 25% Teen Court revenue generated from the $65 fee pursuant to Florida Statute 939.185. BACKGROUND: Oversight of the Okaloosa County Teen Court has historically been provided by Lutheran Services. Funding for Teen Court is provided by Florida Statute 939.185. Twenty- five percent of the $65 fee is allocated for teen court programs and other juvenile alternative programs. The First Judicial Circuit is requesting to administer the Teen Court program in Okaloosa County. Court Administration feels they can provide the service with a cost savings and ensure the program is accountable to the juveniles and the community served. OPTIONS: Approve/Deny/Modify RECOMMENDATIONS: Staff recommends funding approval for Court Administration for a Teen Court Coordinator full-time position effective January 1, 2016 in the amount of $32,329.00.
