BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: September 20, 2016 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Alvin Henderson SUBJECT: EMS Medical Director Contract Amendment Two (2) to Extend Current Contract DEPARTMENT: Public Safety BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request approval of amendment two (2) of the EMS Medical Director contract for EMS Medical Director services to extend the expiration date of the current contract. BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS: Dr. Christopher D. Tanner M.D. has a current contract to provide EMS Medical Direction to Okaloosa County EMS. This contract has an expiration date of September 30, 2016. Staff is currently working on through the RFQ and selection process to provide this service in accordance with and pursuant to the authority of Chapters 401, Florida Statutes, and 64J FAC. Staff is requesting Board approval of Amendment two (2) for an extension of the expiration of the contract to allow staff time to complete candidate selection and negotiation of the contract. All other provisions of the current contract and subsequent amendments shall remain in full force and effect. The proposed contract will focus on the service being provided in compliance with all County ordinances, Florida Statutes, and applicable laws and regulations. Reports and documentation that ensure accountability to staff and the citizens of Okaloosa County will be addressed in the contract language. The proposed contract will be brought before the Board for approval. Staff is requesting Board approval of contract Amendment two (2) to extend the expiration date of the current contract to October 31, 2016 and allow it to renew on a month to month basis until the new contract for the service is complete. The Board action, if approved, will be retroactive to September 30, 2016. OPTIONS: Approve/Deny Amendment two (2) of the EMS Medical Director contract for EMS Medical Direction services to extend the expiration date to October 31, 2016 and continue month to month if the need arises.
