STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request approval for Chairman to sign contract with Life’s A
Beach Publications for Visitors Guide Production.
BACKGROUND: On April 15, 2014 the Board authorized the issuance of an RFQ for design
and production of the 2014-2015 Visitors Guide. Three bids were received and evaluated by the
selection committee. On July 1, 2014 the Board authorized contract negotiations with the top
two bidders: Life’s A Beach and Compass Media. A three-year contract has been negotiated
with Life’s A Beach, with compensation not to exceed $74,341 annually for 150,000 copies of
the Visitors Guide and 7,500 copies of the Convention Center flyer insert.
OPTIONS: Approve or Disapprove
RECOMMENDATION: Approve contract with Life’s A Beach Publications for Visitors Guide
Production, and authorize Chairman to sign the contract.
