BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: April 15, 2014 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Don Vanderhoek SUBJECT: Gator Boring Task Order 2 Invoice Approval DEPARTMENT: Information Systems BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The Board is requested to approve payment of Gator Boring & Trenching, Inc. Invoice #5376 in the amount of $10,423.00. BACKGROUND: Gator Boring & Trenching, Inc. Task Order 2 on Contract C14-2094-WS was approved in the amount of $8,923.00 for directional boring. Before the task order was written, work efforts were coordinated between County departments for hand trenching within the fenced area of the work location. However, when the work was to commence the planned labor force was not available. With limited Information Systems staff and lack of other resources, and in order to stay on time with this fiber optic project, the work proceeded with Gator Boring digging the trench by hand, which resulted in the invoice exceeding the task order amount of $8,923.00 by $1,500.00. It should be noted that this was not an emergency purchase and, therefore, the Purchasing Policy guidelines for such a purchase were not applicable.
