AGENDA REQUEST
DATE: January 21, 2014
TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board
FROM: Sunil Harman
SUBJECT: Destin Airport Compatibility Advisory Committee
DEPARTMENT: Airport
BCC DISTRICT: All
STATEMENT OF ISSUE: This informational item is to advise the Board of County
Commissioners that the Airports Department intents to advertise for volunteer committee
members to preside as County selected members on the Destin Airport (DTS) Compatibility
Advisory Committee.
BACKGROUND: In February 2007, the Board of County Commissioners entered into an
Interlocal Agreement between the City of Destin and Okaloosa County which, in part,
established the creation of the Airport Compatibility Advisory Committee. The committee is
composed of seven members, three appointed by the Destin City Council and three appointed by
the County Commission. The seventh member is a representative of Eglin Air Force Base. The
advisory committee no longer has enough committee members from the County and City of
Destin to have a quorum. The Airports Department intends to advertise for the three county
positions with members to be selected and appointed by the Board of County Commissioners.

Airports Department's intent to advertise for volunteer committee members to represent
Okaloosa County as members on the Destin Airport Compatibility Advisory Committee.
Applicants will be screened on behalf of the County Administrator by Airports Department
personnel and all qualified candidates will then be forwarded for selection by the Board of
County Commissioners.
