RESOLUTION NO. 2008-55
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH,
FLORIDA, SUSPENDING THE FUEL SURCHARGE FOR SOLID
WASTE PICKUP EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2009 UNTIL
FURTHER REVIEW; AND SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
WALTON BEACH:
Section |.
On September 23, 2008, the City Council adopted Ordinance 1771 which
imposed a new fuel surcharge to be billed monthly and determined per unit as
(number of pickups per week x $0.045) x 4 weeks a month. The ordinance went
into effect on October 1, 2008. Since the effective date, the cost of fuel has been
drastically reduced. Therefore, at this time, the City Council does not find that
the surcharge is necessary to cover the increased cost of fuel.
Section Il.
The fuel surcharge for solid waste pickup as enacted by Ordinance 1771,
shall be suspended effective January 1, 2009, until further review by the City
Council.
Section Ill. This resolution shall take effect on January 1, 2009.
