To: Okaloosa County Administrator John Hofstad
The Air Commando Association (an IRS not for profit Veterans 501c(19) and 501c(3)
organization) is requesting permission to organize a survey team representing the
major military commands in Okaloosa County to include the AF Special Operations
Command, 7 SFG(Abn), EOD School, 919 SOW and all other units at Eglin AFB. The
purpose of this team would be to recommend an up-to-date display inside the VPS
Terminal showing the enormous importance of our military stationed here and the
concentration of veterans past and present in Okaloosa County. It is requested that
this subject be placed on the BOCC agenda for the 0830, 17 March 2015 meeting.
This is not a request for funding since we expect private funds to be used. Once the
survey is accomplished and a detailed plan finished, it will be submitted to the
Airport Director or such other authority as required by the Board of County
Commissioners.
The intention of this initiative is to display the importance and concentration of the
U.S. military here in Okaloosa for all to see--both visitors and residents. The
undersigned will be at the meeting to answer questions.
Respectfully,
R.V. SECORD, Maj Gen, USAF (Ret)
CHAIRMAN
