program with NWFSC located at the Bob
Sikes Center of Excellence facility. Students in the program will receive training in safety practices, LEAN manufacturing practices/skills,
and industry certifications (OSHA 10, MSCC Certified Production Technologist, Solidworks Certified Associate/Certified Professional, and
MasterCAM Certified Programmer Mill Level 1). The Advanced Manufacturing Academy will create opportunities that will better prepare
students to meet the education and skill requirements of existing and emerging key industries locally, regionally, nationally, and globally.
*This portion of the request was submitted as a part of the Advanced Manufacturing Academy Legislative Funding Request. If the
Legislative Funding Request is funded, this portion of the proposal will be withdrawn.
Applied Cybersecurity
With the tremendous growth of the Internet, Internet of Things (IoT), complex security problems have become prevalent for governments
and private companies, across multiple industry sectors and platforms. Concerns about the security of personal information, intellectual
property, and infrastructure have continued to drive the demand for cybersecurity-related products and services. In order to meet the
demands and concerns of industry, being able to provide the necessary hands-on instruction is critical to the success and retention of
students in the Applied Cybersecurity program at Crestview High School. The implementation of a quality-learning environment is
essential to add industry-standard equipment and instruction in the classroom; this will also provide the ability for students to explore the
curriculum more in-depth using physical and virtual systems. Students in the program will follow a four-year pathway that leads to high-
demand, high-wage jobs and addresses the needs identified in the Northwest Florida Forward Regional Strategic Plan. Certifications
earned in this program (MOS Bundle, MTA Windows Operating Systems Fundamentals, MTA Mobility and Devices Fundamentals,
CompTIA A+, CompTIA Net+, CompTIA Security+) will provide students with multiple postsecondary opportunities—workforce or
postsecondary track.
Engineering
We are living in an increasingly complex technological world that is changing at an exponential rate. Teaching students to be creative,
problem solvers is the goal of the Engineering program at Crestview High School. Currently, the workspace available to engineering
students is limited and does not allow full collaboration and participation in hands-on learning activities. The funding of this proposal will
provide students with the ability to take part in practical skill experience necessary to cultivate the engineer spirit and improve students’
ability to be a productive collaborator to a team. Providing adequate and appropriate facilities, materials and equipment are essential
aspects of the learning process so students will gain the exposure to the engineering profession, which will inspire them to further their
education and prepare them for high-demand and high-wage careers by fostering skills sought by the industry. Students in the
Engineering program have the opportunity to earn valid industry certifications (OSHA10, Autodesk Certified User – AutoCAD, Autodesk
Certified User – Inventor).
Robotics
Technology is changing the way we do things in every aspect of the world and the sector continues to expand. The Robotics program at
Crestview High School provides students the opportunity to participate in the advancement of the robotics sector. At this time, the
Robotics program is located in a small computer classroom that does not allow for a high degree of hands-on, interactive instruction. The
Triumph Gulf Coast funding will provide the program with a classroom and a robotics lab/arena. The Robotics program requires a space
that allows for creativity, design, engagement, teamwork and an environment to work through the iterative process. Increasing students'
engineering and design skills, understanding of mechanical advantage, electrical systems and motor control, programming and
application for a wide array of sensors will give students options for career advanced in multiple subsectors. Having a dedicated space
for access to advanced technology and a space where students feel empowered to engage in high-level problem solving is critical for
student development. A highly trained and skilled workforce is essential to the success of our local, regional, national and global
economy. The Robotics program offers students the opportunity to earn industry certifications that direct them to postsecondary
education and to the Bob Sikes Center of Excellence (OSHA10, RECF Pre-Engineering Certification, RECF Robotics Certification,
Autodesk Certified User – Inventor).
