AYES: Griggs, gossom, Mead, Goodwin, Jamieson, Rigdon, Rynearson Honorary Designation of a Street for Colonel Bud Day Synopsis: ( City Manager) Council Member Griggs has requested City Council discussion of an honorary street designation for Colonel Bud Day. Mr. Griggs discussed the possibility of an honorary street designation for Col. Bud Day. The City Manager stated two possible locations for consideration could be Highway 98 or Beal Parkway, where Col. Day' s law office was located. However, since both of these are state roads it would take coordination with DOT and possibly the state legislature. The City Manager stated Staff could research the issue if Council desires. Clarification was given that this would be an honorary designation only; there would be no changes in street names and the signage would consist of a small sign or plaque. The City Manager stated this was done a few years ago around the Carson Drive area when a street was designated Seymour Way in honor of one of the church pastors in the area. Mr. Griggs moved to designate a street in honor of Col. Bud Day and to direct Staff to return with recommendations whether a state or city road should be designated, and the procedures necessary for the designation. Mr. Goodwin seconded motion and it carried unanimously.
