Public Comments Related to Current Agenda No public comment. Councilmember’s Minute Councilman Martin Owen encouraged everyone in the industry to get the word out about events in 2015. Councilman Tom Rice visited New Orleans recently where he was pleased to read a local magazine article about the Emerald Coast and heard one of our ads on Sirius internet radio. Director’s Update (Ed Schroeder) a. Film Commission Report (Gail Morgan) – August – Ms. Morgan announced a PBS television show, “Family Travels with Colleen Kelly” was filmed here. The “Destin to Fish” final shoot for the pilot will take place next week. On October 28 at 5:30 P.M., Justin Martin’s show, “The Season” will air an episode which was filmed here. A new pilot to be shot in October or November. Tom Gossom’s documentary “Quiet Courage” will premiere on November 10, 2014 in Auburn, Alabama. TDC will sponsor the Film Florida booth at the Governor’s Conference. III. Financial Update (Charlotte Dunworth) a. Month End Tax Revenue Reports from Okaloosa Tax Collector – July b. Shantelle Dedicke, the new Marketing Manager, introduced herself. Agency Update by Michelle Clerk with presentation of Fall Campaign. The Facebook photo contest was a big success with voting going on now. The Christmas campaign just launched and needs more offers added to the website. The Snowbird campaign runs through January 2015. The web site is continuously being updated and she encouraged everyone to give suggestions to add to the web page. Great reviews were received from the Colleen Kelly show. The Co-Op Plan “How to Get Involved” is scheduled for an online forum on September 19, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. V. Sales Update (Ed Schroeder) a. ECCC Sales Marketing Reports (Tisha Maraj, Convention Center Sales Manager), reported on conferences, trade shows. Connect Marketplace conference was attended and many prospects obtained. Southern Education Conference was attended. GAMPI luncheon was attended in Atlanta. b. Group Sales Marketing Reports (Sherry Rushing, Group Sales Manager), reported on conferences and noted that business prospects are very promising; guides, coupons, festivals, attractions provided collateral for our area. “Going on Faith Marketplace” conference was attended and very successful. Motorcoach Conference was attended and also successful. “Visit Florida” conference was held in Sandestin and was attended by staff and Mr. Schroeder. VI. New Business (Dale Peterson) a. Review of Final FY15 Budget adopted by the BCC (Charlotte Dunworth) b. Request for Additional Funding - Destin Fire Control District (Dino Villani) – Okaloosa County’s Public Safety Director explained that the Destin Fire Control District’s lifeguard funding is equal to Okaloosa County’s lifeguard funding. Since the County’s lifeguard budget decreased due to staffing changes, the Fire District is budgeted to receive less funding in the next year. Mr. Villani explained that two contract addendums are being requested. Addendum 1 would be for up to $40K annually for a second supervisor. Addendum 2 would be $40K one-time for capital, a tower at James Lee Park and an ATV for patrols. Chief Sasser of the Destin Fire Control District was present. Mr. Schroeder distributed a revised Smith Travel Research report that reflects only hotels within the taxing district. d. Mr. Schroeder discussed the selection of TDC Chairman and Vice-Chairman for next year. Motion to Reappoint Chairman Dale Peterson and Vice-Chairman Tom Rice for Fiscal Year 2015.
