Request Information
1. Select a program for which you are applying. You can apply for as many activities within a program as you
need. If you are interested in applying under both Vehicle Acquisition and EMS Operations and Safety, and /or
regional application you will need to submit separate applications.
Program Name
Operations and Safety
2. Will this grant benefit more than one organization?
Yes
If you answered Yes to Question 2 above, please explain.
Many times, the extensive use of automatic aid in the Fort Walton Beach area places department personnel in
surrounding jurisdictions as initial responders. Short staffing in other jurisdictions often requires department
personnel to operate for extended periods of time. Upgrading our current breathing apparatus to current NFPA
standards and transitioning to a lighter breathing apparatus bottle will provide fora safer fireground during
automatic aid responses. In addition, the lighter breathing apparatus bottle will help reduce firefighter fatique
while operating in surrounding jurisdictions that have few. available firefighting personnel.
