SUBJECT: Search Firm for Position of County Administrator
DEPARTMENT: Human Resources

STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Staff requests Board approval to contract with a search firm to
recruit and fill the position of County Administrator.
BACKGROUND: As a result of the County Administrator’s announcement of his retirement in
2013, the Board requested the Human Resources and Purchasing Departments solicit quotes
from external search firms to recruit and hire a highly qualified candidate to fill the position of
County Administrator.
A request for quotes for search firm services was advertised beginning Tuesday, December 4,
2012, with all quotes to be received no later than Tuesday, December 11, 2012 by 4:00 p.m. Six
(6) quotes were received in response to the County’s request, and copies of the proposals are
attached for information. Also attached is a summary sheet of the proposals for quick reference.
The quoted amounts received range from $18,250 to $23,500.
At the time of the agenda deadline, the Human Resources Department was contacting references
for each of the firms providing quotes. That information will be provided to the Board as soon
as possible.
OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove
RECOMMENDATIONS: To contract with a search firm to recruit and fill the position of
County Administrator. Due to the quick turn around, a more specific recommendation is
unavailable at this time, but more information will be provided at the Board meeting, or earlier if
possible.
