BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: September 1, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Jason Autrey SUBJECT: FDEP Agreement# S0834 for Household Hazardous Waste DEPARTMENT: Public Works BCC DISTRICT: ALL STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Contracts and Grants staff is in receipt of Agreement# S0834 under the annual Hazardous Waste Cooperative Collection Center Arrangement Grant from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. BACKGROUND: Annually the Solid Waste/Recycling Office applies for the aforementioned grant. Under its terms the State provides 75% percent of neighboring counties’ cost for an annual amnesty day type event with the balance owed by the neighboring county. Eight counties are participating with Okaloosa by way of interlocal agreements. For its part in coordinating the mobile collection events in each county Okaloosa receives $10,000 per county (total of $80,000) to use in expenses related to its own household hazardous waste program. All costs are on a reimbursable basis. OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove RECOMMENDATIONS: That the Board of County Commissioners authorize the Chairman to execute FDEP Agreement# S0834 for the Household Hazardous Waste Cooperative and all subsequent documentation pertaining to reporting requirements and reimbursement requests related to this agreement.
