BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
AGENDA REQUEST
DATE: October 21, 2014
TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board
FROM: Ben Anderson Okaloosa County Tax Collector
SUBJECT: Ben Anderson Tax Collector
STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Tax Collector to discuss option for a new County-owned facility for
the Tax Collector in Niceville.
BACKGROUND: The Tax Collector addressed the Board on August 19, 2014 about options
for a new County-owned facility for the Tax Collector in Niceville. Since this time, the Tax
Collector has investigated two options for the relocation of the Niceville facility. Both options
will allow the Tax Collector’s office to relocate to a County-owned facility, thereby, eliminating
costly long-term lease fees.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Move that the Board authorizes the Tax Collector to explore the
possibility of relocating its Niceville office to county property, either through the construction of
a building on existing county property or through the acquisition of a suitable existing building
in the Niceville area. Upon finalization of that review and search, the matter will be brought back
to the Board for its consideration.
Additionally, that funding in the amount of $95,000 be provided for the payment of costs related
to site or building evaluations, establishing preliminary cost estimates and providing general due
diligence related to the relocation of the Tax Collector’s Niceville operations to a potential new
location.
