Jason,
Considering that the work is critical to the intersection alignment and an important element of the project, I’m good
with proceeding as outlined contingent upon approval of the proposed maintenance agreement by Mr. Curry and Mr.
Dowd. Thanks again for your work coordinating this effort.

Subject: Maintenance Agreement with FDOT
All,
Attached you will find a proposed maintenance agreement from FDOT for work they are proposing to do along MLK
Blvd. As part of the Cody Avenue overpass along 98, FDOT has agreed to help with improvements on MLK Blvd (a
County road) at the intersection of Downs Road. A project location map is included for your reference. The
improvements will include some cross-slope corrections and turn lanes. Following the work by FDOT, Hurlburt will
relocate their commercial vehicle inspection station to this location (taking it AWAY from Cody and 98) and the County
will be installing a traffic signal. We received funding for the signal design and installation through a Defense
Infrastructure Grant award.
Since this work will be on a County owned roadway, FDOT requires that the attached maintenance agreement be
executed and returned to them. The agreement attached is for your review; once we are comfortable with it | will
coordinate with FDOT on getting the final documents and counts squared away. Time is of the essence and if at all
possible | would like to get this on the 3/5 BCC agenda — however | will not submit it for consideration until I’ve heard
back from each of you.
From my perspective, | am okay with the concept of the request. FDOT will perform the work to a standard equal to or
better than what the County standards are so the quality of work should be fine. | also understand that FDOT need for
us to execute this because the work is NOT on their system. What | can’t provide input on is the form of the document;
specifically with signatures.
Please feel free to call me if you have any questions. Thanks in advance for your time and response,
Jason
