The Board is requested to approve additional funding for the General Fund Communications budget. This account provides for various utility payments, such as CenturyLink and Cox Communications, for BCC offices, including Judicial and Sheriff. In September 2013 the Board approved funding for the Sheriff’s Office to join the BCC Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) network. To date, the General Fund Communications account has spent $131,360.56 on this effort. An additional $47,900.00 will be needed for phones and network implementation in order to complete the Sheriff’s conversion. A result of funding this project from the General Fund Communications account has been a shortage to cover the monthly utility payments and monies budgeted for repairs and software yearly subscriptions. This shortage amounts to $231,434 as listed below: $ 85,800 CenturyLink payments through end of fiscal year $ 28,900 CenturyLink working with Finance to pay $ 47,900 To complete the Sheriff’s conversion to the BCC VoIP network $ 9,000 Cox Communications payment through end of fiscal year $ 15,000 Repairs and software yearly subscriptions $ 44,834 Negative balance as of 07/14/14 $231,434 Funding needed
