SUBJECT: Legislative Priorities for 2015

STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Staff requests Board direction on proposed list of priorities for State
legislative action and potential funding opportunities for Okaloosa County.
BACKGROUND: At the November 18, 2014 BCC meeting, the Board gave staff direction to
evaluate the upcoming State legislative priorities identified by the Florida Association of
Counties (FAC) and compile a list of potential State legislative priorities for Okaloosa County.
Attached is the formalized list of FAC legislative priorities and a list of staff-developed
legislative priorities for Board consideration for FY 2015 based on the priorities established by
the FAC.
Additionally, staff was directed to evaluate the current list of potential State funding
opportunities with consideration for projects for both the north- and south-end of the County. A
list of these opportunities is attached as well.
ANALYSIS: Once our State legislative and funding list is finalized, it should be sent to our
delegation.
OPTIONS: Staff recommends Board direction for State legislative priorities and funding
opportunities.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Reach consensus on local legislative priorities and funding
opportunities and provide staff direction.
