BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: August 2, 2016 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: GinNeal McVay SUBJECT: Screening Committee for Tourist Development Director DEPARTMENT: Human Resources BCC DISTRICT: ALL STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Appoint a screening committee to review employment applications for Tourist Development Director. BACKGROUND: The current Tourist Development Director is scheduled to retire effective August 31, 2016. The Human Resources Policy VII, C states, in part, “A screening committee comprised of a Commissioner, the County Administrator or designee, and others as determined and approved by the Board, will review all qualified employment applications for vacant department director positions.” OPTIONS: The Board could consider appointment of the committee to include: County Commission Chairman Kelly Windes; John Hofstad, County Administrator; GinNeal McVay, Human Resources Director; Ted Corcoran, President/CEO of the Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce; a representative as nominated by the Tourist Development Council; and/or others as desired. RECOMMENDATIONS: Provide direction on the appointment of a screening committee to review employment applications for Tourist Development Director.
