SUBJECT: Approval of Letter of Thanks for Sheriff and Staff

STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request Board approval of letter to Sheriff Larry Ashley and his
staff for their professionalism, interagency cooperation, and public service in the transfer of
valuable assets to the Facilities Maintenance Department for use at county facilities.
BACKGROUND: The Sheriff's office had accumulated several valuable pieces of HVAC
equipment in its inventory from a variety of sources. Working with staff of the county's
Facilities Maintenance Department (FM), the Sheriff transferred twenty-six pieces of equipment
to FM for use at county facilities. This interagency cooperation is to be commended as it will
save the taxpayers of Okaloosa County tens-of-thousands-of-dollars in HVAC equipment
replacement costs.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Authorize the Chairman to sign a letter acknowledging the Sheriff’s
Office for their providing this equipment to Okaloosa County.
