OCSD has seen a significant influx of English Language Learners (ELLs)
over the past few years. In particular, many have left hostile and/or
underprivileged environments, traveling through unimaginable dangers, in
the hopes of finding a better life. We must use different strategies so that
these students can be resilient, despite facing so much adversity. The
purpose of this grant is to determine whether and in what ways relatively
new practices can improve student achievement for high-need students. The
intent to apply proposal that is attached, along with the grant and intent to
apply document is to provide an overview of project objectives and expected
outcomes in order to guide the development of the grant application, should
this intent to apply be approved by the school board.
