Dear Chairman Amunds:
This letter is a request from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for acceptance from
Okaloosa County to functionally classify the new alignment of SR 293 Mid Bay Bridge Road (Phase 1)
which starts at the Toll Plaza and goes to Range Road for a total length of 2.757 miles
The Department is proposing to classify this section as an “Urban Minor Arterial” The Urban Minor
Arterial provides service trips of moderate length and at a lower level of mobility. They connect with
urban principal arterial roads and rural collector routes. 1 am enclosing a Functional Classification
Change Application and an aerial photograph that shows the exact location of the roadway.
The Department is also proposing to reclassify the old alignment of White Point Road to a “Urban
