Dear Mr. Hofstad,
It has come to the attention of the Surf Dweller board of directors that an individual unit owner
contacted the Public Works department in order to obtain permission to place stepping stones on the
beach to the South of our property line on Okaloosa Island. The Surf Dweller board did not approve or
participate in this action, and was unaware when the unit owner contacted your staff for approval.
In the past, Surf Dweller has followed proper procedures going through the Okaloosa Island
Leaseholder Association, the Board of County Commissioners, and public hearings. Surf Dweller was
even denied permission by the Board of County Commissioners to build a knee wall on county
property in the same general area as the stepping stones, that would have in effect replaced a wall that
had been destroyed years ago.
Surf Dweller wants to be a good neighbor, working through proper public notices and procedures.
Sincerely,
deck Pow
