Emergency Bid procedures

following: Ruckel Middle
School lost power to part of
the campus on Wednesday,
October 8, 2014. The
Maintenance Department
discovered conductors that
pose a potential to short out a
400 amp feed to one (1) of the

is known is that it should not
have occurred. One (1) of the

overheated causing the
outage. The damaged
conductor is still alive and
overheating is damaging the
conductor it is laying on in the

Public Content
The requested language change will not affect an employee's current salary.
The current language states, "Employees who receive promotions from the administrative, managerial
or professional/technical salary schedules will be moved laterally from their current step to the
appropriate step." The current language as written is open to interpretation. To correct this the
requested language change would read, "Employees who receive promotions to positions within their
current salary schedule (Administrative, Managerial or Professional Technical salary schedule) will be
moved to the new position pay grade at their current step. Employees who receive promotions that
require a change in salary schedules will be placed on the appropriate pay grade at the lowest step
which reflects an increase in pay."

The current Federal Administration with the U. S. Department of Education has proposed a re-
authorized Perkins Act that would transform career and technical education and usher in a new era of
rigorous, relevant, and results-driven CTE shaped by four core principles-alignment, collaboration,
accountability, and innovation. In an effort to be pacesetters by preparing and implementing a
transformation of our career and technical education programs we have been meeting with
representatives of Northwest Florida State College to develop the concept for a plan for a joint effort to
address changes in both of our career and technical education programs to ensure that they are
meeting the needs of a new generation of students and to prepare them for in-demand occupations in
high-growth industry sectors. In order to move forward with this joint effort we have prepared a
proposed Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions that sets forth the scope of a
collaborative planning process to include the creation of a Career and Technical Education Advisory
Committee.
