Recommended Action : Motion to approve Revised
Administrative Salary Schedule for
Fiscal Year 2020-2021.
Public Content
The Fiscal Year 2020-2021 Revised Administrative Salary Schedule is being presented for approval. The revisions are as follows:
Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Experience Credit
The maximum experience an administrative position is allowed to receive credit for on the Administrative Salary Schedule is ten (10)
years. The requested revision will allow the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) position to receive experience credit on the salary schedule for
all years of applicable experience. This request would potentially increase the pool of qualified applicants for the position.
School Administrator Salary Schedule (Pay for Performance) transition to District Level Administrator (Grandfathered
Schedule)
Employees who receive promotions to positions within their current salary schedule are moved to the new position pay grade at their
current step. This is not possible when a school administrator moves from the "Pay for Performance" salary schedule to the
"Grandfathered" salary schedule as school administrators are no longer on steps. In addition, if a school administrator has been on "Pay
for Performance" for several years, he/she may currently be paid more than the top step of the "Grandfathered" salary schedule. The
proposed language provides a method of calculating the salary for these individuals. The school administrator will be transitioned to the
lowest step which reflects an increase in pay. If the individual's current "Pay for Performance" salary is greater than the top step of
the new pay grade, the individual will retain his/her current salary and receive an increase equivalent to the increment between step 15
and step 16 on the "Grandfathered" salary schedule. The individual will then only receive pay increases if an annual adjustment or cost
of living increase is granted to the "Grandfathered" salary schedule. This revision will allow for consistency of salary schedule transitions
related to the Administrative "Grandfathered" Salary Schedule.

serve as the alternate on the Florida
School Boards Association Advocacy
Committee through June 2022.
Public Content
In order to encourage equal representation of all school boards in the FSBA legislative efforts, Article XI, Section 1 of the FSBA Bylaws
calls for each district school board to annually designate a board member and an alternate to serve on the FSBA Advocacy (previously
called Legislative) Committee. These Advocacy Committee members serve as the key architects of the FSBA Legislative Platform and
as essential advocates in our local, state, and federal lobbying efforts.
A policy change was approved at the Annual Joint Conference (December 2019) that restructured committees, placing the Advocacy
Committee as the overarching, statewide committee. This change also shifted the Legislative Committee to a smaller, more focused
subcommittee of the Advocacy Committee, alongside the Federal Relations subcommittee.
The Advocacy Committee will begin work in early August and will be appointing its Legislative and Federal subcommittee
members by September 1.
This roles and responsibilities include:
Participation on this committee with statewide representation (one rep from each school district)
Interaction with policy makers and stakeholders to promote public education
The opportunity to be considered to serve on the Legislative or Federal subcommittees
Monthly meetings (and additional meetings for subcommittees)
Advocacy and communication leadership
Reporting advocacy efforts back to your respective boards
