Public Content The School Board approved at the May 8, 2017 meeting an agreement between the Florida School Boards Insurance Trust (FSBIT) and the District, whereby the District became a "full member" effective July 1, 2017. As a result of this agreement, FSBIT is providing the District with an expanded property insurance program to include Casualty, General Liability, Excess Workers' Compensation, Catastrophic Student Accident, Crime, Cyber Liability and Pollution coverage. The transition to the FSBIT insurance program will require a "Run-Off Claims" period for any current or prior open claims. As a result, The School Board approved, at the June 8, 2017 meeting, establishing an escrow account in the amount of $50,000 to be administered by FSBIT on the District's behalf to pay prior year claims. FSBIT has recommended the escrow account should be increased to $100,000 because recent experience has indicating the $50,000 balance may not be sufficient. The District is requesting permission to issue a check for an additional $50,000 to increase the District's "escrow account" balance on deposit with FSBIT to $100,000.
