Public Content
The School Board advertised a Notice of Tax for School Capital Outlay for fiscal year 2020-2021 in the Northwest Florida Daily
Newspaper on July 24, 2020, as part of the Preliminary & Tentative Budget. A public hearing and School Board approval was granted at
the July 27, 2020 meeting. Subsequently, the half cent sales tax referendum was approved by the voters of Okaloosa County which has
enabled the School District to purchase additional buses beyond the ten (10) buses originally advertised. As a result, the School District
is proposing to purchase a total of 40 buses for fiscal year 2020-2021, an increase of 30 buses for the current fiscal year. The proposed
purchase of thirty (30) additional buses requires the School Board to advertise an Amended Notice Of School Capital Outlay.
In the event a school district needs to amend the list of capital outlay projects previously advertised and adopted, a notice of intent to
amend the notice of tax for school capital outlay must be published in conformity with the advertisement requirements as outlined in the
TRIM Laws. A public hearing to adopt the amended project list must be held not less than 2 days nor more than 5 days after the day the
advertisement is first published. The Amended Notice will be published in the Northwest Florida Daily Newspaper on February 4, 2021
and a Public Hearing will be held on February 8, 2021 at 6:15 p.m. at the Okaloosa County School District Central Administrative
Complex, 202 Highway 85 North, Niceville, Florida 32578.
