agreement of clinical and
field-based experiences
between the School Board of
Okaloosa County and Fort
Hays State University.
Public Content
Most teachers claim and research supports the fact that the most important
elements in their professional education were the school experiences found
in student teaching (Guyton & McIntyre, 1990). Student teaching is the
culminating experience in a teacher education program. This experience
has a significant impact on the student teacher who must juggle the
responsibilities of teaching while establishing and developing relationships
with one or more cooperating teachers and a university supervisor.
Approval of this agreement will allow placement of practicum and/or student
teachers from Fort Hays State University in Okaloosa County schools.
Field experiences in the Okaloosa County School District will, hopefully,
prepare these students to be best equipped to become our own future
educators.

The goal of the Okaloosa County School District is to ensure a valid and reliable method for
teacher evaluation by implementing the district-developed Charlotte Danielson Framework for
Teaching (2007). The district has been diligent in monitoring Race to the Top funds and has used
these funds to establish an effective evaluation system which supports teacher growth and
improvement. Training in the evaluation process and continued calibration practice in scoring
teacher performance with the adopted district rubric are essential to effective implementation.
The $80,000.00 supplemental funding provided via the District Evaluation Systems Monitoring
