Recommended Action : Motion to approve closing the
current Bruner Middle School
Internal Funds checking
account at Regions Bank and
opening a new Internal Funds
checking account at First City
Bank.
Public Content
Per School Board Policy 2-8 (A), the School Board shall approve all depositories of School Board funds,
including school internal accounts. Depositories must be banks, savings and loan associations, and
credit unions which are authorized to conduct business in Florida pursuant to Chapter 280, Florida
Statutes.
Bruner Middle School has submitted a letter requesting to change its Internal Funds checking account
from Regions Bank to First City Bank. The reason for this change is the recent increase in banking
charges and reduced service hours by Regions Bank.
After consulting several banks in the area, First City Bank has offered the same services to Bruner
Middle School as they are already providing to other Okaloosa County schools, waiving all fees
associated with the account as long as the balance is over $1,000. The bank will also provide monthly
interest.
